1) TRICKY HANDS AND NO MORE TRICKS Executive producer: Daria Andruschenko Line Producer: Tatiana Shevchuk Director: Natalia Demidova Operator: Dmitry Peretrutov Music: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Post-production studio: Mental Drive Agency: Young & Rubicam Client: Microsoft Ukraine In this video we have adapted for local audience an overseas idea about the dangers of using unlicensed software. We only needed to pick up cast and a shoot according to the ready-made plot. The hardest thing was to choose for the spot the most appropriate hands – they bear primary visual and semantic load. Professional magicians were cast. We were looking for the one, who would be capable of depicting the danger multifarious pirate software in just a few gestures. Such a limited and at the same time demanding role went to Roman, a talented actor and magician. Not only he performed admirably his main task, but also managed to amuse the shooting crew with his skill of a magician. 2) MTS MMS Executive Producer: Yelena Sitenko Line Producer: Tatiana Shevchuk Directed by: Lawerence Jacomelli Operator: David Griffiths Agency: BBDO Moscow Client: MTS-Russia Partner: Amber studio We recently shot two spots – "Meeting" and "The Bus" - for MTS-Russia client and its new advertising campaign "MMS - Million Tiny Events" (Million Malenkikh Sobytiy). Shooting "The Bus" film did not justify the status of “a tiny event” and became a heroic event being accompanied by minus 26 degrees temperature. The actors were saved by a hair dryer used as a heater. With this appliance the stylists dried and warmed the pants of the main character, on which, according to the plot, a little boy splashes water from a pistol. Water froze on his trousers momentarily, but the actors stood it bravely, ignoring this small inconvenience. Two films supporting MMS as a means of communication were only a part of a promotional series. All stories in this series were united by funny life situations and a hit of "The Velvet Underground", which you still want to sing for a long time: "I'm sticking with you”. 3) MEGAFON Executive Producer: Natalya Romaniuk Line Producer: Tatiana Shevchuk Director: Tom Geens Operator: Sergei Trofimov Agency: Instinct (Moscow) Client: MegaFon Partner: Focus Films This time our extensive experience of shooting for mobile operators led us to ... the laundry. The culmination - appearance of a girl of marvellous beauty and grace wearing a white dress, who makes all the colours in green, the corporate colour of MegaFon, with the help of a washing machine and magic. British director Tom Jeans (Tom Geens) had his own idea of the beautiful heroine and her moving manner. To convey for the crew the idea of the culmination dance, the director arranged a video broadcast of his dance using a webcam and Skype. We didn’t lack beautiful girls though. Not only a bright appearance was considered, but also the dancing talent. It took a long casting to select the actress fitting the director's expectations the most. Eva, a young, confident and plastic beauty, became the one. She bore the 18-hour shooting on 11-centimeter-high heels with dignity, and never complained about difficulties. The actress, and the whole crew were praised by Tom - the demanding director was satisfied with the results. 4) ZVENIGORA Executive Producer: Yelena Sitenko Line Producer: Tatiana Shevchuk Directed by: Yuri Kovalyov Operator: Dmitry Pilunsky Music: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Post-production studio: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Agency: RUSYCH Client: Zvenigora TM The task of the film was to show that production of Zvenigora cheese is the most natural process of turning fresh milk into cheese without any technological intervention. On the shooting eve the LimeLite filming crew and the special effects studio conducted tests with pouring milk, its whirling and turning in cheese crumb. More than 15 litres of milk were bought in the marketplace for tests. After numerous attempts to sour milk naturally, we decided to try to turn milk into yogurt using chemicals, but the unsouring milk did not yield to this. Eventually, no extreme experiments took place on the set, and we used most fresh milk, real curd from Zvenigora factory and, of course, cheese proper. The filming crew was able to devour cottage cheese on industrial scale. It is delicious indeed! 5) STARCINEMA Executive Producer: Vladimir Yatsenko Line Producer: Albert Zurashvili Director: Maxim Ksyonda Operator: Dmitry Yurikov Music: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Post-production studio: Mental Drive Agency: Cheeese Client: Kazakhstan While preparing the film, a set was built, that replaced completely the actual location. The film was shot for more than 24 hours. Through the efforts of director, production, wonderful agency, and post production magic – we have a great movie for theatres of Kazakhstan with Dolby digital 5 +1 sound. Only our local popcorn cups can give away its Kievan origin. 6) ALFA-BANK Executive Producer: Natalya Romaniuk Line Producer: Albert Zurashvili Director: Gleb Orlov Operator: Evgeniy Yermolenko Writing Music: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Post-production studio: Mental Drive Agency: Michurin Client: Alfa-Bank The most difficult thing about this video was to ensure that our actors, acting as common bank customers, resemble the celebrities completely. Stylists’ and make-up artists’ magic did the trick – we had striking resemblance. The effect was tested on people who did not know the concept of video. Another heroine of the film didn’t need the stylists’ services and makeup – she is by nature similar to her counterpart, the Queen’s dog. This actress made the day for all crewmen. 7) DJUICE FREEZE Executive Producer: Yelena Sitenko Line Producer: Albert Zurashvili Director: Frank Borin Operator: Luis Branquinho Oliveira Music: TNMK Post-production studio: Mental Drive Agency: ADVENTA LOWE, creative director - Aleksey Pasichnyk, creative team Evgeniy Pakhmutov, Andrei Dashkevich, account manager Anna Balycheva, Producer - Ivan Goncharuk. Client: Djuice Team of the customer: Eleonora Dukova - Head of Trademarks Management Anton Maksakov - Brand Manager Vitaliy Tsymbalyuk - Junior Brand Manager Djuice replenished the impressive collection of Ukrainian show-business stars who were its protagonists once again. This time it was TNMK band. The location was chosen perfectly for the story - the vast bus fleet, solid concrete, and it was much colder inside the location than outside. Melting snow dripped from the roof and there were puddles on the concrete floor everywhere. To make this film successful we needed to find a director who could combine a professional talent of the advertisement director and rapper clip shooting experience. And so we did - we invited the real ace of his business, Frank Borin. He has a huge list of gangster and rapper clips shot in the U.S. for such renowned artists and bands as Eminem, CypressHill, Xzibit and many others. The third whale of this film - Extreme Brothers stunt team. They had to push themselves to the limit and show all their skills – they had to swing on ropes and hang on cranes. That's how we got a real cosmic story. 8) ESSENTIALE Executive producer: Daria Andruschenko Line Producer: Olga Nepomenko Director: Yuri Kovalyov Operator: Yuri Korol’ Music: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Post-production studio: Mental Drive Agency: Publicis Visage Client: Sanofi-Aventis The most treacherous moment about medicines commercials is to keep the audience from the unpleasant associations with diseases and old age. The leading actress in this film, young and attractive Ilona Boiko, was not afraid to be aged for story sake. Her boldness, of course, was supported by the make-up artists’ skill, as well as the happy ending - the return of youth and beauty in the last shot. We had a long and careful casting of the heroine, as we needed a really talented actress, able not only to convey different emotions and states of the same person, but even to serve as a mirror of one of the most important organs of human body. We got a healthy and life-asserting result - the way the proper effect of the medicine advertisement on the audience should be. 9) LIFE AND SHARKS Executive Producer: Natalya Romaniuk Line producer: Ira Nepomenko Director: Mark Gorobets Operator: Yuri Korol’ Writing music: Propeller Studios (Aleksey Omelchuk) Post-Production Studio: Wizard Post Agency: Provid Client: life:) It was very fun to shoot this film. And not one but three films at once. Besides the main advertising subject, we have prepared two viral videos with the same main characters - the sharks. The entire film crew became attached to them as to their children. This story combined student skit show and puppet theatre. We managed to sew the costumes in just five days. Real theatrical stage set where every element was managed by man were built,: the waves, and the clouds, and the sun, and the boat. Owing to this all parts of the picture moved autonomously. The crew had a great fun, especially when virals were filmed and the sharks were dancing with bleeding surfers’ feet. 10) Kyivstar Quality Executive Producer: Vladimir Yatsenko Line producer: Daria Andruschenko Director: Jorge Malpica Operator: Roman Vasyanov Music: Baker Street Sound Studio & Post Production Post-Production Studio: Wizard Post Agency: ADVENTA LOWE Customer: Kyivstar JSM CJSC Filming of the project took place in the last days of November, when it was quite cold and gloomy, but this in no way affected the summer mood of the film. We managed to gather a great team for this project - Mexican director Jorge Malpica and a talented Russian operator, Roman Vasyanov. The main challenge of this film was to conduct on-location filming in the Crimea – we had to shoot a lot of locations during one day’s light part, and at the same time try to make it look summer in the shot. The whole team worked as a whole, and only through such an ideal cohesion could we meet the very tight shooting schedule and, respectively, fit in one day’s light part. Filming was performed on a very steep hillside in Balaklava, as well as on the quay at Sevastopol. We shot in Kiev for the second day. We shot the final scene at St. Sophia's Square, and all interior scenes in the VDNKh exhibition centre. The footage was scanned, and the team then went to the colour correction in the newest studio in Lisbon. Then began the long process of Post Production. Thus, with joint efforts a beautiful and majestic film was created.
